Leo Finally, the future Mason Ewing

Leo Finally, the future Mason Ewing

Leo Finally is the name of the young future chief stylist of the brand MASON EWING. Mason Ewing, founder and stylist, will train himself in a few years more in the world of cinema. But for Leo, it’s not a problem. This challenge does not scare him, quite the contrary…

Kimy Gloss:

How old were you when you started having interest in fashion and why?

Leo Finally :

To tell the truth, since I was very young, I always enjoyed manipulating textile, making small handkerchiefs or small bags. It was when I was 16 that it became a great interest in my life. Thanks to the vintage option I had taken in high school, which made us rework on old clothes to make new parts, I quickly realized that with a lot of work and passion you can make beautiful clothes. So that’s why I took this path of life, to be able to achieve beautiful things by touching people with the creations.

KG:

What is your specialty?

LF:
Thanks to ESMOD, I can make anything for women including suits, but I am specialized in lingerie. I am also a specialist now in the men’s fashion by working as well with a wedding suit’s tailor. I master all the fashion and soon the tailoring of the men’s cloakroom.

KG:
Which are your experiences?

LF:

I really want to explore the whole world of fashion. I started out in the field of modeling, so I followed a different model training (mannequins not having the required size), where I was able to parade a few times and explore a little more this environment. I then made lingerie collections for Mason, I was a fashion designer for Lacoste during events. I also worked with a groom costume tailor, I organized fashion shows and I also did a lot of pieces on the side for personalized orders.

KG:
What are your future plans?

LF:

I intend to take over Mason’s house so that I can continue to make clothes, touch people with creations. In the long run, do good things for the world. Perhaps, open a school so that the new generations can express themselves in the arts. Do ecological actions: So that our children and the new generations can create and express themselves, there must be a land to do so!

“I intend to take over Mason’s house so that I can continue to make clothes, touch people with creations.”

KG:
Who and what are your inspirations?

LF:

In fashion, I love Jean-Paul Gaultier and Givenchy. In general I try to be inspired by what surrounds me, seeing beauty in everything. The possibilities of inspirations are endless. I also try to match the need and the demand of the customers.

KG:

How do you live with the fact that you will soon run MASON EWING fashion house?

LF:

I am honored to take over the MASON EWING sewing company. The founding idea of this house (which is to put Braille on clothes so that the visually impaired can also recognize the shape and color of the garment) is really a great idea. I like to work for good reasons. It’s a real engine of passion. And being able to continue to exploit this rich idea pleases me a lot!

« The founding idea of this house […] is really a great idea. »

KG:

Are you not too young to take up such a big challenge?

LF:
I do not think I’m too young to take up this challenge. I do not see how, if I were older, it would change my vision to see things or my work. Now or later, I am convinced to remain the same. There is no limit, even of age, for someone who is passionate.
KG:

What do you think you’ll bring into the world of textile and more specifically that of high fashion?

LF:
I really want to give a new breath of life to the textile world by trying to bring modernity to it, to satisfy the new demand for fashion in a world in perpetual change, by continuing to create beautiful things.

In life, we must move forward and not be afraid of the opportunities we are offered. It would seem that young Leo has well assimilated the quotation of Theodore Roosevelt: "Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, 'Certainly I can!' Then get busy and find out how to do it."
